Bean Boots and Winter when you’re single and living at home in New England

When Leon Leonwood Bean created his infamous boots, he definitely did not have the blogging millenial fashion guru in mind. Hell, he didn’t have many in mind except the great hunters of the USA– which many of us do not fit the mold.

But, the caché of the boots have expanded and enter stage right the couples photos, the wedding parties clad in the iconic footwear, the bloggers styling their latest ~New England Prep~ photo in some quaint mountainous town such as Burlington or NoCon. The dogs and boots because at this point dogs and LL BEAN are synonymous and really a match made in heaven so it works. Then, imo, there are the shots that slightly miss the mark–ie those without precipitation. Granted they are stylish, but if its not snowing, use the opportunity to wear other shoes? Each their own I suppose.

Anyways, now enter stage left– me. Sara. A citizen of Worcester, MA notorious for poorly plowed streets (though they’re pretreating streets hook a turn onto the side streets then @ me), a millenial in all the stereotype ways (at home and ~proud~), and #single. What does that look like? Well, as I’m sure you can imagine, its glamorous.

That’s right ya’ll. Scraping ice and shoveling snow at not one, but two houses with the brother, who I’ve also roped into being my personal photographer (#fortheblog). And yes, I said ice. Because not all storms are created equal with nice fluffy white snow. On top of this, let us not forget the sand, rock salt, and New England earth (ie MUD) that all comes with Winter. (Making boots way less photogenic tbh– how DO they keep them so clean?! Plz send tips). Obviously I have to earn my keep so contributing to the grind of the house–good and bad, is important. And my mum, married for almost 30 years, was also shoveling, and therefore obv being single is not an exclusive factor to have to shovel.

But my point is this: LOOK! I’m doing the damn thing here in good ole Massachusetts. However u know the minute I get the chance I will be frolicking all over New England, Bean Boots glued to my feet like Dorothy’s ruby slippers– with or without Dog and Bae.

Shoveling a path so the prince can come find me…jk!
