September.

Or Septembre since I’m listening to French Top 40 on Spotify. I highly recommend L. E.J.

September is quite the month. Sure we associate it with the changing of seasons from the dreamy long summer days to the brisk quickness of Autumn-but with this comes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more. Start of school, which even if you have NO reason to feel the back to school scaries you (or at least me) still feel, its the entryway into the last quarter of the calendar year, so if there’s anything we wanted to accomplish in the year we better get our acts together, which in turn indicates a real, palpable SHIFT. Did you feel it? Do you know its coming? Has it happened? Its not like Mercury retrograde, its more powerful than that. September is heavy, its confused. Billie Joe Armstrong wants it to end, Taylor Swift is always going back to it, and Earth Wind and Fire want you to remember. (I will now pause to conduct a Google search to see if there are any other September references).

September

As you can see above, spanning across the decades, September has struck us. August-its summer ,we know its back to school, but we get it. October-its Fall; it gets colder, we have to start planning for our clever Halloween outfits and go apple picking (or maybe you went in September idk), but we get it. September, however, wyd? Its hot then its freezing. I want to wear my cableknit but then I’m sweltering. I’m waiting for you to be over so I can celebrate my birthday, but I’m also trying to figure out how to conduct my life during this  tumultuous  month. Its weird to describe but you I KNOW things are in the process of changing, but its all anticipation of the change. Its knowing I have stuff to do in October but the status changes daily. Its reflecting back to last year’s transition from August to September and how ugly it was for my family…tumultuous, confused. For myself, questioning, wondering, unclear.

This year, however, the changes appear to be bringing more positives, hope. Its just a matter of getting through them. Moving to a new place that brings joy, interaction, a space to promote mature development. Chaos still ensues, but part of it is recognizing I have to read and react in real time-not continue to put things off and let them build up. September is making decisions to set myself up for a better tomorrow, a better next month, a lifetime of better decisions. Its detoxing and cleansing in all realms-those tangible and unseen-to make a clean headway for my next year of existence on this wonderful earth. Its THE CLIIIMB (inside joke but also you all know it).

I just googled the etymology of September and it stems from the latin origin where sept refers to the seventh month. So then I looked up symbolism for the number 7 and if there was any link between the number and the sensation of transition/change/confusion that one (or at least me) experiences during this month. Interestingly, the Egyptians find 7 to be an intermediate of the numbers 3 and 4-the sum of these two numbers. 3 represents the spiritual world, 4 represents the material world, so 7 is that number, that limbo, between the 2. So maybe September is the place between life and death-which is shifting from one state to another-the period leading up to a major change?

September has a lot to behold, so keep your focus, be thankful its only a 30 day month, and good luck figuring out what to wear.
